In The Lord of the Rings Online and other MMOs, world mobs have been a pretty constant thing. Gather friends or passing strangers and fight these beasts solo or together. A pack of Easterlings or a man and his Crebain pets, these long-ranging patrols will be throughout Rohan, ready to spoil your day or fill your bags with spoils. With danger imminent, do you engage or flee? Or do you gather some nearby heroes to help?
We wanted to ride over the distant hill only to find a pack of Warg-riders cresting the hill across from us. One of the moments we wanted to capture was the idea of roving packs of monsters travelling across the massive rolling plains of Rohan. We knew also that we had to do it right and look at as many aspects of our game as possible. With the Riders of Rohan, we knew that we had a major update that you have been anticipating for quite some time. That’s where the PvP aspect of the game kicks in, and it’s something every player belonging to a Fellowship/Warband will, at some point, partake in.Riders of Rohan Developer Diary: Warbands When joining one, you will be able to expand your territory further by attacking tiles directly connected to those your FellowshipWarband mates have conquered.Īnother good reason to join an Alliance is to be able to attack players belonging to enemy Factions. Join the best Fellowship/WarbandĪ Fellowship or Warband is the equivalent of an Alliance, and it is made up of players belonging to the same Faction. Even though all of them are viable, each requires a different strategic approach in order to take advantage of their strengths. In conclusion, before you decide which Faction you want to play with, the above points should be taken into consideration. Depending on your preferable playstyle, some might be more well suited for you than others. Some gain movement speed that helps them move around the map faster while others need less time to build structures or gain exp faster. Before you decide on the Faction that you want to play, check what type of Special Units each Faction can produce, and decide if it fits your playstyle or not.Įach Faction has a unique buff that helps them in different aspects of the game.
Some can be great tanks to lead the charge from the front lines while others can be the ranged damage type (and so on). As you progress further into the game you will be able to recruit new Commanders by bribing them with rare treasures, but for now, the starting Commander can dictate your early game play style.Įach Faction can produce Special Units (Tier 4) that excel at certain aspects of the game. Every Faction has a unique starting Commander with clear strengths that you should try and take full advantage of, especially in the early stages.
