This cheesy strat relies on gaming surrender limit mechanics by specifically not winning states in the run-up to the civil war, thus allowing the Republicans to gain more cores with VPs for you to seize, thus increasing their chance to surrender. And in multiplayer it's obviously best to grind the SCW to give Germany XP. You do miss out on a bunch of nice focuses though.
You might be able to do it even faster if you can place the CAV division next to Barcelona, as opposed to the VP two tiles away, with the AI still moving out of the province, haven't tried that. Heh, just tried the strat in the FBG video yesterday and finished the SCW as the Nationalists on July 23rd, 1936.
